A flight from the United States landed at José Martí International Airport on Thursday, marking the return of 60 irregular migrants to Cuba—55 men and five women—as part of ongoing bilateral migration agreements between the two nations.

Among the repatriated individuals, authorities noted that one migrant was transferred to investigative custody due to alleged involvement in crimes committed prior to leaving Cuba. Another faced legal consequences for having illegally exited the country while on probation.

With this latest operation, Cuban officials reported a total of 13 deportation flights from various countries so far in 2025, including previous returns from the U.S. on January 23 and February 27, bringing the yearly tally to 367 repatriated migrants.

Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to safe, orderly, and regular migration, while warning of the dangers associated with illegal departures by sea. This approach aims not only to regulate migration but also to protect lives, as many risk perilous journeys in search of better opportunities.

The incident highlights the complexity of regional migration dynamics and the role of bilateral agreements in managing flows. Cuba emphasized its efforts to promote legal pathways amid broader challenges.
